BackgroundClinically useful marker molecules for the progression of gastroesophageal reflux disease and Barrett’s esophagus (BE) to esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) are lacking. Many adenocarcinomas and inflammatory conditions exhibit increased expression of ADAMs, ‘a disintegrin and metalloproteinases’.
