Polysilicon, a raw material used in the production of solar cells, has become a focus in low carbon economies. However, as a representative industry for a low carbon economy, the polysilicon production process consumes a great deal of energy and produces excessive waste and poisonous fluids such as SiCl4. This paper studies the polysilicon production system in China and looks specifically at Leshan as an example. First, the original polysilicon production system is explained through a detailed analysis of the problems in the industry, then, based on this analysis, the reasons for the problems are comprehensively explained. Then, the polysilicon production system is optimized and specific links improved. A system dynamics method is employed to simulate and analyze the economic and environmental results of both the original and improved polysilicon production process.
