摘要

In the frame of the Italian project CROP MARE 2, a Near Vertical Seismic Reflection (NVR) profile (MC94-30), has been carried out offshore the Campanian coastal area, in the Tyrrhenian sea. The line, starting about 6.7 km offshore Phlegraean Fields coastline, heads SW towards the center of Tyrrhenian basin. The Wide Angle Seismic Refraction (WAR) profile was recorded by a mobile seismic station placed at the surveillance center of the Osservatorio Vesuviano, in the city of Naples. Because of the low signal quality, some efforts were devoted to the data processing. Advanced algorithms generally utilized for near vertical processing were also applied to the present WAR dataset. After processing, the increase in the signal/noise ratio allows us to better highlight the reflected phases up to 22 km from the recording station. The direct modeling of the processed film section was performed by means of the Gaussian beam approach. About 10 km of the crustal structure beneath the coastal area of the Phlegraean Fields were modeled. Three layers were detailed. The first one, assumed on the basis of previous geophysical studies, is the volcanic/sedimentary filling of the Phlegraean caldera. The second one is interpreted as constituted by a sequence of rocks deposited by the activity of nearby volcanic areas. The third layer could correspond to rocks of the Mesozoic carbonate platform sank during the quaternary tensional tectonics in the area.
