This study focused on how ethnicity, gender, employment opportunities, mentorship and professional relationships affect the advancement of African American women in corporate America. The impact of cultural competency and leadership experiences are examined. This study also analyzed factors such as motivation, success ratios, and racial barriers women face at work. The glass ceiling syndrome, which includes topics such as retention, earning gaps, ethics and business practices, was synthesized and investigated in order to determine what steps African American women need to take to achieve promotions, success, and leadership status within American corporations.
