The purpose of this study was to complete a community risk assessment of Santa Ana,California using the Communities That Care Model. This study provides a thorough overview of the adolescent problem behaviors,juvenile delinquency and high school dropout,analyzing twenty-nine indicators. The information used in this study was gathered from multiple resources to compare and contrast the status of Santa Ana with Orange County,California,and the United States on 17 risk factors. The results of the analysis were examined within the community,family,school,and peer/individual domains. Programs were then selected to address priority risk factors in the community. The most concerning risk factors for Santa Ana were the number of juvenile arrests,frequency of residential mobility,low neighborhood attachment and community disorganization,extreme poverty,and gang involvement. Implications for social work practice and directions for future research are discussed.
