This research explored the physical and psychological issues faced by women who have undergone cosmetic surgery, examined factors that might have motivated them to pursue cosmetic surgery, explored any potential correlation between their decision to pursue cosmetic surgery and the attitudes of their partners or husbands toward cosmetic surgery, and explored the connection between self-esteem issues and the decision to pursue cosmetic surgery.

A purposive sampling method was utilized. Through the use of a qualitative research design, the researcher collected in-depth data to explore the unique journey that each individual experienced in exploring her identity and finding happiness and satisfaction with the appearance of her body. Twelve face-to-face interviews were conducted with individuals who had opted for cosmetic surgery to change one or more self-perceived physical imperfections. Most participants articulated a connection with cosmetic surgery and improved self-esteem, confidence, and overall personal satisfaction.
