文摘
The purpose of this study was to conduct a rhetorical analysis of Grace McClurg Carson's Collection, housed at the Center for Archival Collections, Bowling Green State University. The subject of my dissertation research, Grace McClurg Carson, from Lima, Ohio, a graduate of Northwestern University in 1912, was sent as a missionary to China by the American Women Missionary Association, and she spent fourteen years of her unmarried life in China, working as a teacher and supervisor of the Chinese girls' boarding and day school from 1912 to 1926. The objective of my dissertation research was to conduct a rhetorical analysis of her writings to determine how she accomplished her goals and missions in China by way of writing, a project which contributes to the examination of women's use of rhetorical theory in the practice of life.
