I use inbound tourism data from 2006 to 2010 to measure the effects of Beijing Olympic Games on China's inbound tourism. Two models are included in this paper. One is to estimate the effects from countries of origin's perspective, and the other applies to both country and city levels to check out the different effects on the host city and other cities from China's perspective. The results show that counter to what we expected,China experienced a significant decrease during Olympic periods. It is reasonable if we take congestion, higher price levels,or even spillover effect, into account, which means that visitors who originally planned to visit China switched to other countries instead. In addition, the post-Olympic effect is not that positive, too. There is still a significant decrease in inbound tourism in the year 2009.Furthermore,Xiamen is the only city which witnesses more inbound tourism during the Olympic periods. The results also show that during the Olympic month, most of these countries experience an insignificant decrease. Among them America is the only country which has a significant increase in tourism to China. However, the Olympic quarter witnesses a sharp decrease in the number of tourists to China in the majority of countries.
