This dissertation study focused on the perception of stress and morale of male and female employees who work within a virtual environment as well as in a traditional workplace setting. The problem that was addressed in this study was how work-related stress could affect both men and women and could have serious consequences, including negative effects on employee morale and productivity. This was a qualitative study that would provide a qualitative survey to adult contacts working in various industries throughout the United States. Twitter was used for this study in order to reach those who had active use of technology. A snowball sampling method was used in order to reach one hundred and one participants. Only ninety five responses were used due to incomplete surveys provided by six of the participants. Axial, open, and selective coding were used to obtain results from the submitted surveys. Qualitative research techniques were used to gain insight on the stress levels and morale of those who work in the traditional environment versus those who work virtually. Online surveys assessing the stress levels and morale of men and women in the workplace were conducted. The study examined the participants' responses from surveys with ninety five individuals who work within the United States. The participants were required to have a computer and internet access in order to complete the survey. Participants also had to have a Twitter account in order to access the tweet with the survey link. The results of the survey were analyzed to determine stressors that men and women faced within the work environment. On-site and off-site work environments were analyzed and both genders were compared to determine differences between the genders. The data concluded that men and women have similar stressors, but have the tendency to handle their stress in different manners.
