The existing TCP/IP protocols are not suitable for the next generation Internet with the fast growing wireless and embedded technologies. To help researchers develop and evaluate new protocols, high-fidelity experimental facilities are desired. Through this thesis research, I developed the NetEye sensor network testbed at Wayne State University. NetEye has several desirable features such as cost-effective hardware, web interface, and software tools to enable users to run potentially complex experiments. NetEye has been designed and implemented to facilitate research in wireless and sensing networks. NetEye embodies lots of characteristics like remote web interface, cost-effective hardware, software components to run complex experiments etc. In this thesis, I will present the elements of NetEye including its hardware and software platforms and implementation details (e.g., interference control).
