Cross-sections for formation of 89Zrm through 90Zr(n,2n)89Zrm reaction over neutron energy range 13.73 MeV to 14.77 MeV

摘要
The cross-sections for formation of metastable state of 89Zr (89Zrm, 0.588 MeV, 4.16 m) through 90Zr(ration:none; color:black" href="/science?_ob=MathURL&_method=retrieve&_udi=B6TVB-4RM7MV3-1&_mathId=mml2&_user=1067359&_cdi=5530&_rdoc=2&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_userid=10&md5=afc5576115523bdafb915f2281e8e434" title="Click to view the MathML source" alt="Click to view the MathML source">n,2n)89Zrm reaction induced by 13.73 MeV to 14.77 MeV neutrons were measured for the first time and also theoretically estimated using Empire-II and Talys programs. At 13.73 MeV neutron energy, the 89Zr nuclei can be excited to metastable state, 89Zrm, when the first and the second emitted neutrons have energies lower than the most probable energy ration:none; color:black" href="/science?_ob=MathURL&_method=retrieve&_udi=B6TVB-4RM7MV3-1&_mathId=mml3&_user=1067359&_cdi=5530&_rdoc=2&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_userid=10&md5=6e0cb36314b29ccff3ca61f69be48991" title="Click to view the MathML source" alt="Click to view the MathML source">rc="http://www.sciencedirect.com/scidirimg/entities/223c.gif" alt="not, vert, similar" title="not, vert, similar" border="0">0.64 MeV. The probability of exciting 89Zr nuclei to energy levels higher than 0.588 MeV and therefore of populating the metastable state through decay process increases with increasing neutron energy. The measured cross-sections vary from ref="/science?_ob=MathURL&_method=retrieve&_udi=B6TVB-4RM7MV3-1&_mathId=mml4&_user=1067359&_cdi=5530&_rdoc=2&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_userid=10&md5=f31f8ab00a5b92b22067cb9b6b53c259">rc="http://www.sciencedirect.com/cache/MiamiImageURL/B6TVB-4RM7MV3-1-4/0?wchp=dGLbVlz-zSkWW" alt="View the MathML source" title="View the MathML source" align="absbottom" border="0" height=11 width="69"/> to ref="/science?_ob=MathURL&_method=retrieve&_udi=B6TVB-4RM7MV3-1&_mathId=mml5&_user=1067359&_cdi=5530&_rdoc=2&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_userid=10&md5=c793d477ad9457bed58e5e4fcf7427f2">rc="http://www.sciencedirect.com/cache/MiamiImageURL/B6TVB-4RM7MV3-1-5/0?wchp=dGLbVlz-zSkWW" alt="View the MathML source" title="View the MathML source" align="absbottom" border="0" height=12 width="85"/> over neutron energies 13.73 MeV to 14.77 MeV, and are in agreement with the cross-sections estimated using Empire-II code. The formation of 89Zrm is favoured when the first and the second reaction neutrons are emitted with the most probable energies rather than lower energy, except for 13.73 MeV neutrons.
