摘要

Introduction

Condyloma acuminatum is the most frequent sexually transmitted disease treated by colorectal surgeons. Several treatments have been proposed and used, but none provides complete disease resolution.

Patients and methods

This retrospective, descriptive and observational study included patients from January 2003 to October 2010 who were surgically treated for perianal warts. All patients underwent evaluation of the anus by rigid rectoscopy.

Results

Surgery was performed in 10 patients. All patients had perianal warts, and 50%had anal lesions. All patients were treated by surgical excision, followed by fulguration in five patients. Because of the extent of the lesions, a V-Y flap was required in three patients. During follow-up, recurrence occurred in 20%.

Conclusion

Surgical excision with or without fulguration currently seems to be the best treatment for perianal condyloma. Because of the risk of recurrence, mainly in the first 6 months, patients should be closely followed-up.
