To analyze the morphological characteristics in pubescent golfers in Malaga (Spain).
Cross-sectional, descriptive study of 30 golfers (20 boys and 10 girls).
In boys, the mean age was 14.1 卤 1.2 years, height was 164.4 卤 14.0 cm, weight was 56.0 卤 11.7 kg, the sum of four folds was 38.3 卤 13. 2 mm, and the sum of six folds was 63.2 卤 19.3 mm; body composition was as follows: fat percentage according to Faulkner 11.7 卤 2.0 and according to Carter 9.2 卤 2.0, muscle mass 46.1 卤 2.9, and bone tissue 19.5 卤 2.8; the somatotype was 2.6 卤 0.9 - 4.6 卤 0.9 - 3.4 卤 1.5. In girls, the mean age was 13.5 卤 1.8 years, height was 156.2 卤 7.5 cm, weight was 47.4 卤 8.9 kg, the sum of four folds was 39.7 卤 10.0 mm, and the sum of six folds was 79.1 卤 19.4 mm; body composition was as follows: fat percentage according to Faulkner 15.7 卤 3.7 and according to Carter 11.9 卤 1.9, muscle mass 43.8 卤 1.9, and bone tissue 17.2 卤 2.8. The somatotype was 3.2 卤 0.6 - 4.0 卤 0.6 - 2.9 卤 1.2.
Fat percentages were 4%according to Faulkner and 2.7%according to Carter, while the muscular percentage was 2.3%greater in boys than in girls. Mesomorphic and ectomorphic somatotypes were more frequent in boys than in girls, who more frequently showed an endomorphic somatotype. However, both sexes showed a predominance of mesomorphy with respect to the other two components.
