Thyroid disease is a very common disorder in Primary Care visit. Thyroid diseases have a high prevalence in all ages and especially in the female gender. The clinical manifestations are nonspecific and of slow establishment. Thus, its diagnosis is often by chance. Clinical suspicion in Primary Care clinic is fundamental for diagnosis.
These three articles will provide an overall view on the thyroid problems and their management in Primary Care. In the first article, screening of thyroid disease and hypothyroidism will be discussed. The second one will deal with hyperthyroidism and thyroiditis and the third and final one will be on goiter and thyroid nodules.
