摘要
Sporadic data are currently available on reliable estimates of Total Cholesterol (TC) distributions and trends over time, to be used for worldwide comparisons among countries. Within the WHO MONICA Project a standardization program has been designed, and an external quality control (EQC) process, based on periodic and blind assessments of bias and precision, has been carried out to allow for such comparisons. Moreover, based on EQC results, quality assessment (EQA) criteria have been established to identify data for inclusion in the analysis. In this process, EQC lyophilized pools affected by matrix effects have been identified and excluded from EQA.
