Films of poly(2,5-dinonyl-1,4-phenylene-vinylene-1,4-phenylene-vinylene) spin coated or cast on lithium fluoride disks, either pristine or PTFE coated, where studied
by vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) techniques in the 120–350nm range. Significant spectral differences in the low wavelength
band corresponding to the aliphatic C(sp

be related to orientation effects induced
by the PTFE coating. The local density functional calculated spectrum was used to assign the different transitions and to o
btain information of transition dipole moments.
