摘要
Organic electroluminescence from self-assembled microdots of a distyrylbenzene derivative was studied. The organic microdots were formed by vapor-deposition on an Indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass. Electroluminescence devices were fabricated by successive coating of a carrier transporting triphenyldiamine layer and an Al top-electrode. At positive bias voltages applied onto the ITO electrode, the cell exhibited bluish green light emission, the spectrum of which coincided with the fluorescence band of the distyrylbenzene derivative. It suggested that the hole carriers injected from ITO were confined inside the microdots and recombined with electrons injected through the triphenyldiamine layer. The degradation process of the cell occasionally gave rise to an intense ring-like emission probably due to a cavity effect of pinholes.
