The present study examined the links between adolescents鈥?psychoticism and past parental verbal reactions to the child鈥檚 problems and successes. The data were collected from 636 students aged 16-19 years (Mage = 17.19 years) and some of their mothers. The sample of mothers consisted of 127 women aged 36-60 years (Mage = 45.77 years). Adolescents鈥?psychoticism was measured by the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ-R) and parental reactions from the child鈥檚 and mother鈥檚 perspective were measured by Parental Behavior Questionnaires (KBZR-2 and KBZR-R). The results confirmed that some parental reactions may be associated with the adolescents鈥?psychoticism. Parental reactions that discourage dialogue about emotions may lead to an increase of psychoticism, whereas parental reactions that encourage conversation about feelings may contribute to a lower level of psychoticism.
