The solid state structure of [RuCl(CO)(η2-C,N-C6H4CHg align=center border=0 SRC=/images/glyphs/BPQ.GIF>NC6H4-4-Me)(PPh3)2]·CHCl3 clearly shows the presence of a Ru–Clg align=center border=0 SRC=/images/glyphs/BN9.GIF>ClCHCl interaction within the sum of the van der Waals radius. This interaction has the effect of lengthening the Ru–N and shortening the Ru–C bonds of the cycloruthenated Schiff base relative to those observed in the previously reported structure of [RuCl(CO)(η2-C,N-C6H4CHg align=center border=0 SRC=/images/glyphs/BPQ.GIF>NC6H4-4-Me)(PPh3)2]·CH2Cl2.
