摘要
This conference focused on one of the objectives of the Rhine Action Programme, started in 1987 in order to enhance activities aimed at reducing pollution and realizing the river's ecological rehabilitation. The c. 60 short papers report on studies in the Rhine River, Meuse River and other European rivers, and are arranged in sections on: effects of environmental change on biological communities; dissemination and fate of pollutants in water and sediments; control of accidental spills and clean-up measures; assessment of ecotoxicological effects on microorganisms and invertebrates, and their use for biomonitoring of water quality; restoration of fish stocks in the river and adjacent floodplain waterbodies, including gravel-pit lakes; and environmental river and floodplain engineering projects and planning.
