After a selective overview of the literature about merycism, the author proposes -聽with lacanian theory聽- to question early frustration and their relations with psychosomatic phenomena. In this way, we鈥檒l see that we can鈥檛 understand early object relationships between the mother and his baby without this fundamental concept. We also see that the question concerning the 鈥渄esire of the great Other鈥?(Lacan) is clearly the center point about this strange alimentary behavior. The infant -聽in this case聽- shows his inextricable difficulty and his subjective disorder by way of his body.
