In the manganese system where MnSO<sub>4sub>路H<sub>2sub>O (308 K) crystallizes, the only complex compound is the anhydrous Gly路MnSO<sub>4sub> with a polymeric type structure .
A new compound Gly路CoSO<sub>4sub>路3H<sub>2sub>O was found in the cobalt system under unstable equilibrium conditions. Gly路CoSO<sub>4sub>路3H<sub>2sub>O was proven to consist of two types of octahedra, trans-[Co(H<sub>2sub>O)<sub>4sub>(O-gly)<sub>2sub>]<sup>2+sup> and trans-[Co(H<sub>2sub>O)<sub>2sub>(SO<sub>4sub>)<sub>2sub>(O-gly)<sub>2sub>]<sup>2鈭?/sup>, forming a chain structure (monoclinic crystal system, space group P2<sub>1sub>/c).
