摘要
An experimental-numerical methodology for the investigation of three point bending test (TPBT) on sandwich panels with Al skins and Nomex鈩?Honeycomb core is presented. A dedicated focus on numerical models is presented. Using data obtained from flatwise compressive tests, a highly detailed FE model (micromechanical level), has been built. It has, therefore, been possible to reproduce, with an elevated grade of similarity, the real behavior of sandwich panels in TPBT. Particular attention has been paid to verify the accurate modeling of the crushing behavior of the core during the last part of TPBT. Numerical results and experimental data have been compared. This comparison has not only been based on a load-displacement curve, but has been further exemplified by detailed photographical images, throughout the whole loading process, of the local behavior of the cells crushing. The influence of various parameters (friction and relative position of the puncher) has been also evaluated from a numerical point of view.
