摘要

Minimally invasive aortic valve replacement with a transapical approach is a novel technique first started in 2002. Since this initial implant, the technique has been employed in very high risk patients who are not candidates for conventional surgery or have cardiac surgery score levels that discourage it.

We present a patient with primary Sj枚gren's syndrome with a severe aortic stenosis and daily angina, who required a prompt aortic valve replacement. Due to the presence of a severely calcified thoracic aorta, a transapical approach seemed to be the best option and was performed with excellent results.

This is the first case of an aortic valve replacement for severe unstable aortic stenosis with a transapical approach in a patient with Sj枚gren's syndrome who had a porcelain aorta.
