A 10 item survey on the training program, the job expectations and actions during the first months of specialized activity was completed by 25 (96.2%) angiologists and vascular surgeons who ended their training by 2008.
The 76%value their training as good and 20%as excellent. A total of 88%would repeat their training in the same teaching unit, although only 9 met the minimum of activity quantified in the specialty program. Twenty four found work immediately, mostly in the public health system (92%). Not performing endovascular (p = 0.004) or open aortoiliac procedures (p = 0.017) was related with not achieving the quantifying objectives. Not performing the minimum number of in the training program was not seen as a determining factor in choosing a teaching unit(p = 0.667), and was not related to finding employment (p = 0.325) or performing aortic endovascular procedures (p = 0.444).
Training in Angiology and Vascular Surgery in our country achieves a high level of satisfaction perceived by residents, despite not having completed, in the majority of cases, the minimum quantifying objectives included into the training program. They have a great employment potential and are professionals who performance most of medical needs in the public healthcare system medical.
