摘要
A study was conducted around Chandigarh (Punjab), India toassess the effect of Populus deltoides shelterbelt on wheat. Cropdensity, root and shoot length, biomass and grain yield of wheatat crop maturity were significantly lower, up to 12 ± 1 min the fields sheltered by P. deltoides than in unshelteredplots. The reduction of biomass and grain yield of wheat werecomparatively more than that of other parameters. The observedreduction in the growth and yield of wheat could be attributed tophytotoxic interference of the phenolics from the tree with thecrop.
