摘要

Elastohydrodynamics has dominated the field of lubrication in the second half of the 20th century. The development of the subject is outlined and attention is drawn to four major topics which have received attention in recent years. The implications of current indications of very thin elastohydrodynamic films of nano-metre proportions are discussed.
