摘要
Short-time solution is derived for diffusion-controlled emissions of volatile organic compounds. Compared to commonexact series solutions, simplified short-time solution not only converges fast at short times but also has simple forms requiring noroots of transcendental equations. It serves necessary complements to the exact series solution. Especially interesting is a straight-linerelation between air-phase concentration and 1/√t (t is time), which is derived from the small-time solution and is very suitable forsome mid-stage between the very early and the late emission stages. This simplest mathematical relation is the most desirable forengineering applications. These new expressions are validated by using a reported environmental-chamber tests. Since all derivationhas a solid mathematical-physics basis, the models presented in this paper may contribute to casting new light on the underlyingmechanisms of diffusion-limited organic emissions.
