摘要
Offshore installations are vulnerable due to the possibility for gas leaks. It is therefore important to always design with safety in mind.Good ventilation is a key issue, but in addition to ventilation one must also regard e.g.working conditions, (wind, rain etc.)-hence there is often a conflict of interest between explosion safety and working environment. The objective of this paper is to compare different wall configurations in one specific platform module and see how these configurations influence ventilation, dispersion and gas explosions-and thereby explosion risk. The analysis has been performed with the CFD code FLACS.The dispersion results showed that fewer walls give more ventilation and hence smaller gas clouds. With regard to reducing explosion loads open areas were more effective than walls with partly louvered panels and partly explosion relief panels.
