海外中医英译研究名家评述

摘要
20世纪以前,中国古代经典的对外传播主要是通过来华的外国游学者、传教士、汉学家完成的,其中只包含少量的中医内容。新中国成立后,尤其改革开放以来,海内外中医英译研究工作才普遍展开。在中医英译研究工作中,涌现出了一些杰出的代表人物,他们或有深厚的语言学、汉学和中医理论知识,或有丰富的英译和临床实践,均对中医英译有所研究。本文主要就个人背景、英译思想、主要成就及其影响等方面对魏迺杰、满晰博、马万里、文树德为例的海外中医英译研究名家进行评述,提出加强海内外合作交流、取长补短的建议。
Before the 20~(th) century, the overseas transmission of ancient Chinese classics was mostly conducted by foreign scholars, missionaries and sinologists touring in China, and the transmission covered traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). After the founding of the People's Republic of China, especially since the reform and opening up, the studies on the English translation of TCM have been conducted worldwide. In the studies, some outstanding representative personages emerge. They have explored the English translation of TCM with profound knowledge of linguistics, sinology and TCM theories or rich ChineseEnglish translation and clinical practice. From the aspects of personal background, translation theories, main achievements and influence, this paper reviews the famous overseas scholars of the English translation of TCM by taking Nigel Wiseman, Manfred B. Porkert, Giovanni Maciocia and Paul Unschuld as examples. The suggestion of strengthening international cooperation and exchanges is put forward.
