摘要
为了验证延迟块读出法(Delay-line Readout Method)在大面积中子探测器位置测量中的可行性,研制了一整套应用于中国散裂中子源(China Spallation Neutron Source,CSNS)工程的二维位置灵敏多丝正比室(Multi-wire Proportional Chamber,MWPC)探测器原型样机。入射粒子在探测器中的位置信号首先通过一组5 ns延迟块在相反两端输出,再进入高精度时数转换器(Time to Digital Converter,TDC)电子学系统,转换为时间差数字信号的方式记录下来,最后运用root软件进行数据分析。分析结果表明:从绘制的二维图中能看到α源3个不同位置坐标,与α源的摆放位置一致且位置分辨均好于2 mm,说明研制出的MWPC探测器与延迟块读出法能完美匹配起来,达到高精度的位置测量需求。
        [Background] A neutron sensitive multi-wire proportional chamber(MWPC) is one of important components for the CSNS's(China spallation neutron source) construction.In terms of large-area neutron detectors, the delay-line readout method is a new type of signal readout method. [Purpose] This study aims to design and implement a 200 mm×200 mm sensitive area MWPC prototype with a delay-line readout system to verify the feasibility of the delay-line readout method. [Methods] An unified anode readout and two channel for each cathode signal are implemented with the MWPC. At first we put α radiation sources in three different positions of the neutron detector, the position information of the incident particle what these sources scattering into the detector contained by the induced signal in cathode. After avalanche, spreads through a series of 5 ns modules to the opposite ends, a high precision time to digital converter(TDC) is employed for determining arrival time, from which the incident position can be derived. Finally, the root software is used for data analysis so as to verify the position performance of this MWPC. [Results] The preliminary results with the α radiation source testing showed the position resolution is better than 2 mm which achieved by this proposed MWPC. [Conclusion] The developed MWPC detector can successfully perform position measurement. Meanwhile, it is good to verify the feasibility of the delay-line readout method in the measurement of large-area neutron detectors.
