Objective To investigate the clinical effect of blocking needle in the treatment of mallet finger deformity. Methods From March 2014 to March 2016, 15 cases of mallet finger deformity were treated by open reduction and blocking needle. Results All 15 cases were followed up with an average of7.5 months. According to the mallet finger treatment outcome assessment system proposed by Crawford, this group was excellent in 10 cases, good in 3 cases, fair in 1 case, poor in 1 case, with the excellent and good rate of 86.6%. Conclusion Blocking needle, as a method for the treatment of bony mallet finger deformity, is advantageous in its simplicity in operation and stability in fixation and thus worthy of more extensive clinical application.
