On February 1 st, Hunan Bubugao Chain Supermarkets Co., Ltd., having already suspended trading for10 days, released a statement that they had signed a Strategic Framework Agreement of Cooperation with Tencent. Four days later, China Resources chairman, Dr. Fu Yuning, was hosted by Pony Ma during a visit to Tencent's headquarters, sketching out future cooperation between the two companies in the areas of consumer goods, health products and real estate. During this time, Tencent also invested RMB 2.5 billion in Heilan Home Co., Ltd, a clothing retail brand.Tencent is chipping away at the retail industry, moving out from behind closed doors to in front of the counter. The only enemy standing in their way, is Alibaba.
