The main hazards of marine organism attachment to offshore oil and gas production structures include increasing platform pile volume and surface roughness, corroding platform structure, affecting diver operation, and so on. Based on the appearance inspection of more than 700 marine steel piles in the artificial island landing structure in Jidong Oilfield in Bohai Bay, this paper presents the situation of marine organism attachment to those steel piles, analyzes the growth mechanism of marine organism attachment and its hazard to marine oil and gas production, introduces the antifouling methods to inhibit and clean the marine organism attachment, such as using antifouling paint, electrolysis, ultrasonic waves and mechanical means. Finally, according to the actual situation of the oilfield, the corresponding countermeasures are put forward.
