杰克,荒岛上的“小野兽”和“头头”——从戈尔丁的写作意图视角分析

摘要
戈尔丁的《蝇王》凸显出荒岛绝境下人性的可怕"罪恶"。然而从作者的写作意图出发戈尔丁绝非只是想刻画孩子们令人失望的行为而是通过这种方式来呼唤人性中善的回归。杰克总被认为是"恶魔"的典型代表,而这一评价显然不够客观公正。事实上他不仅是"小野兽"的代表,而且在荒岛上扮演着不可替代的"头头"角色,他充分体现出戈尔丁作品中人性中善与恶的交织。
William Golding's Lord of the Flies,illustrates the horrible sin originated from humanity when the children were isolated in the deserted island. However,Golding never tried to describe the disappointing behaviors of the children simply but to call back the goodness of humanity in this way. Jack,who was always regarded as the typical" evil", obviously did not get fair and objective judges. Actually Jack is not only the symbol of the"beastie"but also the irreplaceable"chief "on the deserted island,who embodies the evil and kindness weaving in Golding's works.
