英译汉词汇意义的不可译性及其翻译策略

摘要
词汇在语言交流中起着重要作用。英语词汇缺乏汉语对应语,即出现汉语词汇空缺,导致英译汉词汇意义翻译的不可译性。文章分析因英汉文化概念、传统文化和地理文化等文化差异所导致的英译汉词汇意义翻译的不可译性,提出直译、意译和音译等翻译策略,借助语义和文化调节,尝试将英汉词汇翻译的不可译性转化为相对可译性,避免英译汉词汇意义翻译过程中语言或文化意义的缺失,解决英汉词汇翻译的不可译性,不断完善英汉翻译实践。
Vocabulary plays an important role in language exchange. The lack of Chinese counterparts in English words,i. e. the lack of Chinese vocabulary,leads to the untranslatability of the translating the meanings of English-Chinese words and expressions. This paper analyzes the untranslatability in English-Chinese translation due to cultural differences between English and Chinese cultural concepts,traditional and geographical cultures. It proposes translation strategies such as literal translation,free translation and transliteration,and semantic and cultural adjustment to try to translate the untranslatability into translatable ones,and to avoid the loss of connotative meaning and cultural connotation during translation,so as to solve the untranslatability and constantly improve translation practice.
