Objective To observe the effects of agomelatine on depression symptoms and sexual function of patients with first-episode depression. Methods A total of 90 patients with first-episode depression was randomly divided into research group(45 cases treated with agomelatine)and control group(45 cases treated with fluoxetine)for 6 weeks. HAMD-17 was used to evaluate the clinical efficacy before treatment and at the 1 st,2 nd,4 th and 6 th weekend of treatment, the ASEX to assess sexual function, and the adverse reactions were assessed with the TESS at the 6 th weekend of treatment. Results The effective rate of the research group was 86.67%,while the control group was 84.44%. There was no statistical significance between the two groups(P> 0.05). The total score of HAMD-17 in the research group were lower than that in the control group at the 1 st and 2 nd weekend of treatment(P< 0.05). At the 6 th weekend of treatment, there was no significant difference in the TESS scores of the two groups(P> 0.05). ASEX score after treatment and the incidence of sexual dysfunction in the research were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Argomeladine has a relatively good effect on the initial depression and has a certain effect on sexual function.
