Objective: To explore the abnormal characteristics of visual emotional information processing, which is a special hearing agnosia caused by neural dysfunction. Methods: 20 congenital amusics and 20 controls were tested with the facial expression recognition task(FAIT). Meanwhile, emotional intelligence and music affective response indexes were measured with the Emotional Intelligence Scales(EIS) and the Affective Response os Music Questionnaire(ARMQ) respectively. Results: The emotional intelligence score and music emotional response intensity in the amusia was lower than the control. After controlling the score of the emotional intelligence, the accuracy and correct response time in negative sad expression recognition showed significant differences between two groups. Specically, relative to control group, amusia group showed lower accuracy and higher of response time in negative sad expression recognition task; Finally, no significant difference between the two groups was obsereved in happy and neutral expressions task. Conclusion: Our findings showed that the individuals with amusia have difficulties in auditory emotional information processing.
