"国运兴则体育兴",特别是在"举国体制"的背景下,体育一直被赋予了极强的政治功能,它是一种传播政治的重要载体,在不同的时期都有着特殊的含义。全球性的体育赛事与各国的政治关系十分密切,特别是奥运会这类国际性的体育赛事,更是具有极大的政治传播功能,对于国家形象的塑造、社会的融合以及民族的情感共鸣有着极大的现实意义。平昌冬奥会闭幕式"北京八分钟"表演,直接向全世界人民展现出了中国的大国形象、国家文化以及民族特色。相关的研究着重于分析体育赛事传播中的政治诉求。
