The objective of this study was to explore the effect of Zhituo Jiebai Pills(ZJP) on rats with hypoxic gastric ulcer induced by simulated altitude of 5 000 m. The pharmacodynamics and mechanism of ZJP were focused as objects of this research. By means of histopathologic morphology and ultrastructural changes, content of adenosine and energy charge determination, activity of SOD and content of MDA determination, we found that the ZJP could alleviate gastric mucosal ulcer damage caused by hypoxic stress by increasing ATP, ADP, AMP content and energy charge, increasing SOD activity and reducing MDA content in gastric mucosa of rats, which indicated that ZJP had the pharmacological action of protecting gastric ulcer caused by hypoxic stress. This research would be helpful to provide the pharmacological basis for the prevention and treatment of altitude diseases.
