the ecological footprint represents the region's ability to provide resources, eliminate waste and be productive. In this paper, the ecological footprint model is used to quantify the water resources of Tangshan City from 2001 to 2016. The results show that the water resources footprint of Tangshan City has the characteristics of fluctuation first increasing and then slowing, and the ecological carrying capacity tends to increase. In each industry, the ecological footprint of agricultural water is reduced and the ecological footprint of domestic water is increased. From the point of view of each county, the ecological footprint of the central city is relatively large and the carrying pressure is also heavy, while the water resources in the southern foothills of Yanshan and the northeastern regions are relatively rich and the ecological footprint is low.
