The risk of pressure vessels for polypropylene plant is calculated in this paper. Also risk analysis for the important equipments is made and the risk-based inspection plan of the plant is presented. The pressure vessels are inspected regularly in accordance with the inspection plan in the maintenance period. The main problems existed in the plant are the defects left over from manufacturing and circulating water corrosion defects. The inspection based on risk has great guiding significance for the defects produced by the equipment in use,but it has great limitations for the defects produced in the non-use links such as manufacturing and installation. In the inspection of equipment based on risk, the defects of the equipment left over from the manufacturing and installation should be taken into full consideration to ensure the effectiveness and comprehensiveness of the inspection.
