The research directions and keywords of electrical science and engineering discipline of National Natural Science Foundation of China have been teased out and revised by academic experts in 2018. In order to keep pace of the times and reflect inclusiveness, we have extensively solicited the opinions of experts, deleted the unreasonable or outdated parts, combined the repeated or similar content, and added the vacant or trending content. After this revision, emerging hot issues such as artificial intelligence and big data and other interdisciplinary subjects are highlighted in the research directions under the codes of various disciplines. The funding scopes of electrical subjects are further clarified. Therefore, the revised research directions and keywords are more reasonable than before, and more applicable to fund program applicants and reviewers.
