William Faulkner is not only a traditional moralist, but also a genuine humanist. On the one hand, his works mercilessly criticize the lack of human moral, but on the other hand endeavor to exploit the various human virtues. From the comparative interpretation of ethical identity, ethical choice and ethical human nature, The Sound and the Fury presents a picture of the moral desert of the South, whereas Go Down, Moses depicts a landscape of the oasis of humanity in the South.
