This paper analyzes the spatial distribution characteristics of water footprint and GDP in the Yellow River Basin by ESDA analysis framework. Results show that, firstly,in the basin scale, there are significant spatial distribution of water resource curse in the Yellow River Basin. Secondly,in the regional scale, the vitual water trade is the key factor influencing the balance of water supply-demand and the water footprint has obvious spatial distribution characteristics. Thirdly,in the provincial scale, there is higher content of virtual water of planting structure in the strong and medium resource curse area and lower content in the weak resource curse area. Fourthly, there is the same spatial distribution of water footprint and GDP in the Yellow River Basin. The higher values of water footprint and GDP concentrate in the downstream area, which is weak resource curse area.
