从功能对等理论看海明威小说《老人与海》两个译本的比较

摘要
《老人与海》是海明威最为著名的中篇小说,也是1953年美国普利策奖和1954年诺贝尔文学奖获奖作品。鉴于该小说巨大的影响力,迄今为止《老人与海》已经有几十种译本,不同的译本之间风格各异、相映生辉。本文运用奈达的功能对等理论,从词汇、句法和文体等三个层面,就吴劳和海观两位译者的译本进行对比,分析两种译本存在的差异及得失,以期对文学翻译的从业者提供一定的借鉴与启示。
The Old man and the Sea,as E.Hemingway's best known masterpiece,has won Nobel Prize and Pulitzer Award in 1954 and 1953 respectively.Owing to its great influence,it has been translated by tens of scholars with different styles.This paper,by employing Nida's theory of functional equivalence,compares Wu Lao's version and Hai Guan's from three angels such as vocabulary,sentence structure and stylistc feature,analyses the advantages and disadvantages of their different translations,aiming to provide some reference for others' translation practice.
