In accordance with the requirements of Water Ministry, the control project of key mountain flood valleys is accelerated the construction throughout the country. Chongqing is the typical mountain flood susceptible region in our country. With so many mountain flood valleys, the flood control task of Chongqing is heavy.Combined with the constructed key mountain flood valleys in Chongqing, this paper summarizes four critical factors that have great effects on the control of mountain flood valley, namely the uncertainty of design flood calculating, the particularity of topographical and geological conditions, the limitation of project investment, the damaging by human activities. At the same time,it preliminarily discusses the control model of mountain flood valley in Chongqing mountain area from four aspects, namely to properly upgrade flood control standard,to rationally divide control regions,to optimize engineering measures and to closely combine with non-engineering measures.
