In order to solve the problems of combustion worsening and emission deterioration when diesel engine being used in the plateau area, bench test is used to study the influence of EGR on economical efficiency, dynamic property, combustion and emission of diesel engine fueled with oxygenated diesel fuel.Experimental results show that when operated under the condition of external characteristics, compared with closed EGR, open EGR makes the torque of diesel engine decline. It drops much greater in plateau environment than in the analog plain environment. At the different load points of the maximum torque speed 2 200 r/min, open EGR compared with closed EGR, there is no significant alteration on the effective fuel consumption of diesel engine, and so does the maximum combustion pressure in cylinder. On the contrary, the maximum combustion temperature decreases. NOxand particulate matter are the main emissions of diesel engine fueled with oxygenated diesel fuel. Emission test results show that at the different load points of the maximum torque speed 2 200 r/min, open EGR in comparison with closed EGR, the NOx emissions reduce by an average of 39% and 35% while the carbon smoke increases by 68% and 71% in the plateau environment than in the analog plain condition.
