摘要

经世致用是湖湘文化的精神特质,是湖湘士人治学和立身处世的基本原则,也体现了五四时期湖南报人的基本精神特质,从而构成五四时期湖南报刊独特的生命形态。五四时期湖南报人的人生道路选择、办刊宗旨及报业实践都充分地展现了这一点。
        "Employing Knowledge to Govern the World" is the spiritual characteristic of Huxiang Culture,which is also the basic principle of learning and acting for the learned people in Hunan Province.It constitutes the basic spiritual feature of the Hunan newsmen during the "May 4th Movement" period and also the unique living form of Hunan newspapers and journals,which is fully demonstrated by their choice of way of life,principles and practice of running newspapers and journals.
