Acute coronary syndrome is a severe crisis of the Cardiovascular Division.Pathological studies have demonstrated that disruption or erosion of atherosclerotic plaques and subsequent thromboses are the most important cause of acute coronary events.Recently,a biomarker of myeloid-related protein 8 /14(MRP8 / 14) is secreted by inflammatory cells and is involved in the occurrence and development of the atherosclerotic plaque, and could be a predictor of adverse cardiovascular events in patients with coronary heart disease. The present article focuses on the biologic characteristics of MRP8 /14 and the relationship between MRP8 /14 and cardiovascular diseases, which may bring new ideas for the clinical diagnosis and treatment.
